Hooker's Oedipal Romp Boring, Say Crtics

(Well, that should keep the numbers down eagerly booking to come to the Canary Islands, just to see if truth really is stranger than fiction. Point upon which Secret Tenerife News refuses to comment further.)

"Christophe Honore's NC-17-rated film Ma Mère is adapted from a novel by Georges Bataille. It delves into the bizarre sexual psyche of a prostitute mother (played by French icon Isabelle Huppert). The film follows the woman's blatant sexual overtures toward her young adult son Pierre (Louis Garrel) during a hedonistic stay in the Canary Islands." But, critics say, "This sexually messy, religiously infused film is a perfect example of the dregs of European cinema. Honore was going for controversial. He barely made it past boring."
