Día de la Trilla in El Palmar

The traditions continue ...

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 26th, 2010, the fiestas in the village of El Palmar, Buenavista del Norte, will come to a close with their popular Día de la Trilla  (Threshing Day), which is an opportunity to demonstrate the area’s rural traditions, get some farm work done,  and enjoy a convivial afternoon knees-up.

Events start at around 11 am with the various stages of the threshing – audience participation encouraged - and the building of the carbonera (for making charcoal) - which generally requires around a dozen blokes and nearly as many bottles of wine – and is followed by a hearty free lunch and dancing through the afternoon.
