Tenerife News & Events 10/27/2010

  • "Of those who did carry all their money on them at all times on holiday, the poll found that the average amount was the equivalent of around £300. When respondents were asked if they would carry £300 around with them back home in the UK, 78 per cent of them said that they wouldn’t. When asked why, 34 per cent said they would "fear losing it or having it stolen", despite their apparent lack of concern about this on holiday. "

  • "Prices on the coast, where most holiday homes are located, saw the steepest declines, down 8.7% in September compared with a fall of 4.9% in August. The Balearics and Canaries fared slightly better, down 4.2% compared with a drop of 5.3% in August."

  • "Going Native in Tenerife might mean different things to different people but for us it means having the type of experiences that the Canarios enjoy throughout the year. However, it doesn't have to mean going to a remote location where you're the only tourist. The real Tenerife (not purpose built for tourism) is found everywhere, even in some of the main resorts if you look for it. "

  • "But, for smokers out there planning to come to Tenerife in the new year who are groaning at this piece of news, here’s something that might brighten your spirits. Most of the time it can be too hot on Tenerife to sit inside bars; it’s much more comfortable to sit outside in the sun any month of the year…and the smoking ban apparently doesn’t cover bars’ open air terraces."
