Tourist jobs on the up

"EMPLOYMENT in the Canaries’ tourist sector rose by 5.1% in 2013, which helped lower Spain’s jobless figures slightly. This sector on the mainland ended the year with 18.9% unemployment, down from 19.8% the previous year. In fact, tourism hit a record high in 2013, with 60.6 million visitors (up 5.6% on 2012), and spending up 5.6% to 59,080 million euros."
