The Almonedas de Tenerife group is delighted to announce their next fair to be held over the Easter week in the South of Tenerife in San Miguel de Abona. There will be a variety of stalls exhibiting and selling all sorts of antiques, vintage and collector’s items: textiles, porcelain, furniture, glass, photographical items, bric-a-brac, paintings in oil, watercolours, sculpture, vintage clothes handbags and accessories, postcards, rustic decorative pieces … come and see!
The group is made up of a potpourri of professionals of different nationalities that trade on the island, including furniture restorers, and this is a chance to see some of them in a wonderful setting such as the Museum of History in San Miguel de Abona.
Almonedas de Tenerife work to encourage restoring, recycling, and reusing in order to do our bit for the environment: vintage furniture and antiques are all about this. We also like to help others less fortunate than ourselves and at this fair all donations received at the entrance to the museum will go to the local Red Cross and Cáritas, both organisations are providing help to families in need. Volunteers from both charities will be on site informing on their activities and manning the workshops for the kids.
These workshops are set up to keep the younger visitors entertained whilst the parents browse the fair and museum exhibits, onsite café service, “Tobingo” the ecological merry go-round will be providing rides, there will be music, old time minute photographer Michi Rodriguez will be taking pictures as they used to be, and informative brief talks will be given on items displayed.
The old main streets of San Miguel de Abona were recognized by the government and given special historical status last year BIC (Bien de Interés Cultural). Come stroll the old part of town and enjoy a day out, up and away from the coast of Tenerife – you won’t be disappointed!
