Ex-Civil Guard Attacks Politicians With Hammer Whilst Shouting: "Foul-Smelling Communists"

Two men waving a hammer burst into a square in Santa Cruz de Tenerife where the closing European election rally organised by the Canary Islands branch of United Left (IUC) was taking place on Friday. The two attackers, reportedly a former Civil Guard officer and his son, threw chairs on the floor whilst shouting “foul-smelling communists” and “fascist, homophobic and chauvinist” slogans at those United Left members present.
