Maritime sector bids to create 20,000 jobs

THE Canaries’ Maritime Cluster, comprising more than 50 companies and government agencies, is aiming to double its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). That’s the market value of all officially-recognised goods and services produced within a country in a year). The group is keen to move up, from 6% to 12% by 2020, meaning it would the number of employees to 40,000 workers in the sector.
