Oil slick in Gran Canaria reignites fury over oil prospecting proposals

A half-kilometre oil slick that appeared yesterday in Gran Canaria at the El Cabrón beach in Agüimes has reignited fury over oil prospecting off the eastern islands. Campaigners say that this slick, which saw the Canarian president himself make an inspection this morning, shows the damage such oil can cause to these islands and their beaches – and so their tourism.
