Winter Weather Warnings in Tenerife

Weather warnings in winter in Tenerife are generally for very high winds and heavy rainfall, as was seen in the island's capital last Sunday. Risks are from rock falls and landslides in mountainous areas or gorges, or from things falling off building sites.

You're advised to keep out of the sea and to stay away from sea walls. Four meter waves crashing may be an amazing sight, but they'd grab you and have you tumbling towards the bottom of the Atlantic, long before you could catch your breath!

If in doubt, don't. For medical attention, call 112.

Fluent in Spanish and having spent 16 years on the island, Pamela Stocks has now been translating, researching and publishing information on customs and events in Tenerife for 25+ years. This takes a considerable amount of time and effort, for which she receives no payment whatsoever. If you find this work useful or interesting, please buy her a coffee. Buy Pamela Stocks a Coffee
