Thumbs-up for marathon

THE first Santa Cruz marathon. held last weekend, attracted more than 2,500 people – and everyone agreed it was a great success.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez said: “The streets were filled with people who wanted to enjoy a special Sunday.

“I want to thank the organisers for all the effort, which has resulted in a fine example of what we can achieve.

“The people of Santa Cruz responded to make the race so special. Hundreds of cruise passengers were also enjoying a model marathon, especially bearing in mind this was its first year. This will get bigger and bigger.”
