Crowds pay homage to Canaries’ Patron Saint

MORE than 20,000 people flocked to honour the Virgin of Candelaria, Patron Saint of the Canary Islands, last Monday as part of a day of celebrations.

The traditional midday Mass at the packed Basilica, hosted by the Bishop of Tenerife, Bernardo Alvarez, was followed by the procession of the Virgin of Candelaria around the square.
