Four days of stoppages next month announced by Spanish ATCs

Spanish air traffic controllers’ union USCA has issued a strike notice for next month as a response to fines and temporary suspensions of ATC operatives for calling wildcat strikes in 2010. The industrial action is likely to have some effect on travellers to and from the Canaries, mainly delays rather than cancellations because the “strike” is actually a series of short stoppages on 8, 10, 12 and 14 June for just two hours at a time. None the less, travellers will hope that, as often happens, the summer strikes will be called off at the last minute.
