Las Galletas’ celebrates San Casiano fiesta

Las Galletas has just started its fiesta in honour of San Casiano, the town’s second major fiesta each year. Events really kick off this evening with the election of the fiesta queen, and the fiesta will take over the town, especially the Rambla, until Monday 24th. Each day and night there will be something on, usually loud, and on Saturday evening, the town will be open as shops remain open until late for a fiesta sale – since we’re still in the official summer sales period, there will be offers on offers! Sunday 23rd is the fiesta’s main day, centred around the harbour, with fireworks, and there will be a public paella and more music and dancing until the early hours on Monday 24th for the Fin de Fiesta.

Unlike so many journalists writing about the resorts, Pamela has not only actually been to Tenerife, she lived on the island for 16 years, for the majority of that time in a rural valley immersed in the local culture in a way that few outsiders have been privileged to do and gaining a wealth of knowledge about the island, its people, their customs, fiestas and celebrations that she is now able to share via this site. Fluent in Spanish, she also translated and reported for the various English-language newspapers.
