Perseid Meteor Shower in 2015

A multicolored Perseid meteor striking the sky just to the right from Milky Way.

Amongst 5 actividades que no puedes dejar de hacer este verano (5 activities you shouldn't miss this summer), ¿A dónde vamos hoy? (Where shall we go today?) remind us that one of the most magical nights of summer is the Perseids meteor shower (popularly known in Spanish as the Lágrimas de San Lorenzo (Tears of St. Lawrence), which you may - weather permitting - be able to see on the night of Tuesday, 11th August from the Teide National Park, where they are organising a guided walk to contemplate the night sky.

International Business Times inform us that this year's Perseid meteor shower is forecast to be "rather impressive", a planetary scientist has said. The annual shooting star display will peak between 11th and 14th August, with most meteors visible between midnight and dawn. The 2015 Perseid meteor shower will peak on August 11th, 12th and 13th. A new moon on August 14th, 2015 will create perfect conditions for watching the meteor shower.

EDIT: If you want to take pictures of the Perseids, then you'll need to read this article by Sheila Crosby in La Palma, How to photograph meteors, including the Perseids
