Final of the Murga Contests Santa Cruz 2017
By the end of this week the contests will be over and Santa Cruz carnival will take to the streets. Meanwhile there have been a huge number of contests to choose, basically, the running order of the various groups in the carnival processions. The murga groups are a bit of an acquired taste, I feel and one I never managed to acquire in 16 years on the island. However, I appreciate that they are probably more popular and venerated than religion. Maybe even as important as football. So, here for your veiwing pleasure is the recording of the final of the murga contest 2017. All five and three quarter hours of it. If you manage to watch it right through, you probably qualify as an honorary canarian!
