Costume Contest and the Rondallas Contest

Two items on the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival agenda for Sunday, 4 February 2018. The costume contest (Carnaval Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2017: Concurso de disfraces) at 11am, then at 5pm at the Auditorio de Tenerife the Rondallas contest.

Rondallas de Tenerife are a male or mixed choir and their repertoir contains elements of opera, zarzuela (operetta-like Spanish lyric-dramatic genre that alternates between spoken and sung scenes) and world music, amongst others.

The format of these choir groups is reportedly unique to Tenerife, in that there are no references to anything equal elsewhere in the world and they are entirely different to the Medieval Spanish definition of a Rondalla being a stringed instrument ensemble

Most Santa Cruz carnival events are televised via RTVE or RTVC, locally, nationally and internationally or recordings may be found on the CarnavalTVC Youtube channel.

All events are liable to change beyond our control.
