Día de las Islas Canarias (Canary Islands’ Day)



Día de las Islas Canarias (Canary Islands’ Day), which this year takes place on Wednesday 30 May 2018, celebrates the first session of the Canary Islands Parliament, which took place on 30 May 1983. Now celebrated every year a public holiday and with traditional events, such as folk music, dancing, local gastronomy, as well as traditional Canarian sports, such as Juego del palo (stick-fighting) and Lucha Canaria (Canarian wrestling).
