Coso Apoteosis - Carnival Main Parade

The Carnival Queen 2020, Sara Cruz Teja, approaches behind Comparsa Los Cariocas

Today, Martes del Carnaval or Shrove Tuesday 16 February, the Coso Apoteosis (Carnival's Main Parade) should have taken place, but of course, because of the COVID pandemic, will not do so. And it will be very sorely missed. This year virtual carnival events take place between 17 February and 7 March, culminating in a television gala, ‘Santa Cruz, Corazón del Carnaval’ (Santa Cruz, Heart of Carnival).

We can merely bring you coverage of this event from last year. This is one in a series of posts that aim to keep the spirit of carnival alive. Or keep the flame burning, so the torch can be passed to the next carnival, whenever we can get back to gathering normally.
