Puerto de la Cruz' very special Holy Week

Puerto de la Cruz Holy Week

Without processions, the liturgical acts will focus on the celebration of masses that will be broadcast on the city's social networks.

Friday, March 12, the acts of Holy Week in the tourist city begin will with the reading of the proclamation by Clementina Clavero Ruiz, Doctor in Art History, who will deepen the knowledge of the imagery that surrounds these days with the talk “Bringing images to life. Dramaturgy and faith in the street”.

The reading will set in motion a Holy Week, again marked by the pandemic, because the processions, so traditional on these dates, will not be able to take place. Therefore, the liturgical events will, exceptionally, be broadcast on the City Council's social networks due to the capacity limitations in churches.

The celebrations that can be followed on the official FacebookYoutube and Canal 10 Televisión, will be the masses on Holy Thursday April 1 and Easter Sunday April 4, as well as the proclamation. In addition, from Friday of Sorrows (Viernes de Dolores), March 26, until the end of Holy Week, the processions of 2019 and 2018 will be broadcast.

The Brotherhoods ask for understanding and encouragement in the face of this health emergency situation with the hope of returning to normality soon. Likewise, this year's poster evokes the figure of the Saint Veronica that symbolizes the memory and hope in the face of the pain of times that are not the best, but that give way to hope.
