La ofrenda de los Corazones de Tejina en la plaza se cancela por segundo año

Festivities of the Hearts of Tejina, Tejina, Tenerife. August 24, Saint Bartholomew's Day.

Los Corazones de Tejina, on the island of Tenerife, is a festival declared an Asset of Cultural Interest that is more than 100 years old. It is celebrated in the last week of August and without a doubt it is one of the most striking traditions that are celebrated in summer, due to the cross-shaped structures that have two wooden hearts and arranged vertically. They are decorated with flowers, with flour cakes with of traditional and religious allegorical motifs, and with fruits. The hearts, which can measure up to 12 meters high and weigh almost a ton, accompanied by their respective parties from their neighbourhoods, are brought to the church square. There they are received by the saint, San Bartolomé, at the door of the church and an emotional act known as the Offering takes place.
