One of the most popular motor sports events on the island, the Subida a Tamaimo (Tamaimo Hillclimb) is going ahead on Saturday, October 2 in Santiago del Teide

At the presentation of the event on 21 Sep at the Ayuntamiento Santiago del Teide (Santiago del Teide Town Hall), Mayor, Emilio Navarro began, "First of all, I want to send a hug to all the people of La Palma." Regarding the event, he assured that “the main focus is safety, which is why we could not carry it out last year. We are at level 2, we have learned and the situation has improved, so we were clear about celebrating the climb”.

Loly Guanche, president of organisers, Escudería Barliamotorsport, also began her intervention with words of support for the residents of La Palma. She continued saying that “Tamaimo has a great story behind it, I have received very nice messages from the drivers, very emotional”, which shows the importance of its return to the calendar." "We are very satisfied with the rate of registrations, in addition to having drivers from several islands," she added. While waiting for confirmation, the start at 5,200 m of the route will be started by the Formula-Rally participants, who will give way to those who compete in speed. At the moment, she declared that there are none registered in sport regularity. Loly Guanche continued highlighting that there will be private security for the event, in addition to the fact that the information "can be obtained by means of a QR code or via the official website (www.subidatamaimo.com)". The head of the organization stressed the importance of public collaboration, "all we ask is that they take precaution watching the event, in addition to the obligation to follow all measures to contain the spread of COVID."

A total of 96 entries appear in the official list of participants published by the Barliamotorsport Team; 86 in Speed and 10 in the Formula Rally section, guaranteeing an undoubted appeal for the event that will be held this Saturday in Santiago del Teide, between Los Gigantes Cliff and Tamaimo town centre.
