Santa Cruz de La Palma opens donation centre for persons affected by the volcano

The Council of Santa Cruz de La Palma has enabled a municipal donation centre in the annex of the Pabellón Multiusos Roberto Rodríguez Estrello pavilion (Cam. Velachero, 38700 Santa Cruz de la Palma), for donations of basic necessities for people who have been evicted from their homes by the volcanic eruption and that will remain open, indefinitely, from Monday to Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In addition, an information point for volunteers will be established to channel all resources and contributions from citizens, visitors and companies directly through the teams that are managing the response on the ground.

Organizations that serve affected people, say that non-perishable food, personal hygiene products, towels, new underwear (only accepted with purchase labels) and masks are urgently needed. Also, warm clothing for adults, infant food and products for people with celiac disease, lactose intolerant and without sugar. It will continue to inform promptly of changes in needs and all donations will be received and forwarded to the agencies that care for people relocated or in vulnerable situations.

The team reports that they are receiving multiple messages, from different parts of the country, from individuals who want to help. However, the emergency situation make it necessary to organize, centralize and channel the resources in the municipality to take care of them the needs of the people who are going through this terrible situation. 

The entire government team is working on several long-term municipal measures to support the needs of the affected people and recall that, "from the first moment, we've made all the facilities and municipal resources available to the management team of this emergency, and that personnel, especially the Local Police and Civil Protection, have turned to contribute to guarantee the safety of the people and the proper functioning of the operation".

ACCOUNTS FOR FINANCIAL DONATIONS

Likewise, for people and companies that want to make financial donations, the Council recalls that the Cabildo de La Palma has enabled several channels in order to centralize contributions. The bank account number authorized to formalize national donations through bank transfer is ES47 2100 9169 0122 0017 9456, while in the case of international donations it is CAIXESBBXXX. In addition, people who want to make their donation through Bizum, must access the 'Send donation' tab and enter the code 03747.

El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane councils have also set up bank accounts for this same purpose. The one in Los Llanos is ES06 2100 1921 1902 0014 1752, while El Paso has two, which are ES26 2100 7109 3122 0015 5652 and ES57 3076 0480 6710 0761 6723. 


Likewise Centro Comercial Meridiano in Tenerife (Av. Manuel Hermoso Rojas, 16, 38005 Santa Cruz de Tenerifehas set up its Information Point as a place to collect donations for people affected by the eruption of the volcano in Cumbre Vieja, on La Palma. Meridiano, in collaboration with the NGO Sonrisas Canarias, will collect and send all donated products to the affected families.

While the Tenerife employers' association, CEOE-Tenerife, has opened a solidarity account to support the victims of the volcanic eruption, in which any company can contribute its help through the following account ES48 3058 1302 6327 2001 1896.
