Auditorio de Tenerife offers two concerts of the Festival Canarias Jazz Showroom


The Martín Leiton Trío will perform this Friday, while the Big Band directed by Jesse Passenier will take the stage on Saturday

The Auditorio de Tenerife (Tenerife Auditorium), this weekend, offers two concerts of the XIII Festival Canarias Jazz Showroom. On Friday 8 Oct the Martín Leiton Trío will perform and on Saturday 9 Oct the Big Band of the Canary Islands will take the stage under the direction of the Dutch composer Jesse Passenier. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall and tickets are already on sale.

Martín Leiton is a Canarian musician, professor at the Taller de Músics of the Escola Superior d'Estudis Musicals de Barcelona, ​​who has developed by drinking from sources as diverse as jazz, flamenco, pop or African-American music. His main instrument is the double bass, but he also plays electric bass, guitar and sings with clear influences from Latin American folklore. His compositional and interpretive side has led him to release four albums as a leader: Medium (quartet), Poetry of Sound (trio), Inevitable (big band) and the latter, From a Bass, which he presents at the XIII Festival Canarias Jazz Showroom together Kike Perdomo on sax and Ramón Prats on drums.

Jesse Passenier is a Dutch composer who unifies the principles of jazz and classical music, exploring the peripheries of genres and the depth and possibilities of harmony. He won the 2017 Dutch Rogier van Otterloo Award, which recognizes his success in uniting musical genres leading his own orchestra and his skill in orchestral writing. Passenier will direct the Big Band of the Canary Islands in a program of his own creation. This musical group was founded in 2008 with a clear unifying vocation, work and research, learning, creation and entertainment. Directed by the musician, composer, educator and producer Kike Perdomo, the Big Band of the Canary Islands has five released albums.

Tickets can be purchased up to one hour before the start of each concert at www.auditoriodetenerife.com and by phone at 902 317 327, and at the box office from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The user will have to choose between one or two seats pre-set and previously distributed throughout the room. The public is kindly requested to arrive at the venue well in advance to make a staggered entry. The purchase of the tickets implies the acceptance of the measures implemented to deal with COVID-19, such as the correct use of the mask and attendance only with cohabitees.
