The Tapas Route returns to La Laguna

Starting this Friday and throughout the month of October, La Laguna recovers the Ruta de la Tapa (Tapas Route), "one of the most important gastronomic activities of our island", in the words of the mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, who presented the initiative together with the Councillor for Commerce and Tourism, María José Roca, and the president of the La Laguna Commercial Zone Association, Iván Pérez.

A total of 37 commercial establishments will take part in this edition that returns, after the forced parenthesis of the pandemic, on an unusual date (the month of October instead of the usual month of July), although it maintains its name ‘For San Benito’.

"The Ruta de la Tapa once again brings us together in La Laguna to offer a quality gastronomic offer," said the mayor at the presentation ceremony. “La Ruta has been present in our municipality for more than 12 years and we cannot but support an initiative that is committed to the quality and variety of the gastronomic offer and the consumption of local products. The motto of this edition is ‘100% Canarian product’”, said Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.

The president of the La Laguna Commercial Zone Association explained that this year the evaluation of the tapas that are part of the route will have an online format. In other words, instead of the usual slips for other editions, a mobile application (called Rutappa) will be enabled with the aim of avoiding contact between the restaurateur and the final consumer as much as possible. He also indicated that most of the 37 participating establishments are located in the urban area and that, due to capacity limitations due to security protocols, various bars and restaurants have not been able to take part this time.
