Día de la Cruz will dress the main streets and squares of Granadilla with tradition

The Historic Village of Granadilla de Abona will dress in tradition, as every year, for the celebration of the Día de la Cruz (Day of the Cross), on May 3. More than twenty crosses will adorn the different corners and public spaces of the municipality, thanks to the involvement of groups, associations and educational centres that have joined this celebration.

To this we must add the festive events of El Calvario, in honor of the Day of the Cross, which begin tomorrow, Saturday, 30 Apr 2022 and will last for four days, and which include a proclamation, tribute, contests and concerts, among others.

The festivities start tomorrow, at 8:30 p.m., with the celebration of the VI Festival of Popular Music ‘Pepe Venero’, immediately followed by the reading of the proclamation by the geographer, José Juan Cano; the tribute to Domingo Canino and the performances of Verodal and Parranda Chasnera.

On Sunday, May 1, starting at 12:00 noon, there will be a concert by the music band 'Sociedad Cultural José Reyes Martín', and starting at 5:00 p.m. there will be a children's gymkhana. Both on Monday the 2nd and Tuesday the 3rd, liturgies will be held, starting at 8:00 p.m., in honor of the Christ of Calvary, which will be sung by Corazones Alegres, the José Reyes Martín Cultural Society and Viñático.
