La Laguna exhibits its traditional trades in the first Craft Show in Finca España

The event joins the celebrations of the Day of the Canary Islands and starts on May 28 and 29

The City Council of La Laguna organizes the first Craft Show in Finca España on May 28 and 29, an event that opens the La Laguna artisan calendar and that aims to support the sector and increase the projection of traditional trades in the municipality by offering new visibility in the towns and neighbourhoods of the locality. But also, reinforcing training for the sector and, as a novelty this year, with a program of workshops that will be taught by the artisans themselves.

This is the first of four events planned during 2022 that will terminate in October with the traditional Annual Exhibition in the Historic centre of La Laguna, and is to be held for the first time at the church square of Finca España to commemorate the celebration of the Day of the Canary Islands with 12 stalls and a demonstration of the various crafts that La Laguna can offer.

The Councillor for Local Development, Youth and Education, José Juan Gavilán, highlights that "we want to bring crafts closer to people and be able to offer a representation of the great creativity and tradition that we have in the local craft sector, enabling new public spaces so that they can make their work visible. In addition, he recalls that "we have worked closely with the sector in recent years, since the worst moments of the pandemic, to design a local strategy to boost activity, with economic, training and organizational reinforcement."

The exhibition, which will be installed in the church square of Finca España (Calle las Nieves, 3, 38205 San Cristóbal de La Laguna) next week, can be visited from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 and from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 29.
