Las Celias: 25 years of humour and fun

Members of Las Celias at the Carnival Main Parade in 2019

An exhibition at CC Nivaria Shopping Centre (Av. Tres de Mayo, 63, 38003 Santa Cruz de Tenerife) reflects the history of the popular group, with three generations linked to carnival.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Guinness record that Celia Cruz set at the Santa Cruz Carnival. This year also a unique carnival group that, precisely, pays tribute to Celia CruzLas Celias, celebrates its 25 years at the capital's party. It's actually 26, but the pandemic prevented them from being able to celebrate it last year, so this is well worth a party like the one that was held yesterday at the Nivaria Shopping Centre in the Capital, where the exhibition 25 years of history was inaugurated.

Three generations always united to the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is how Las Celias de Tenerife can be defined, a group that since 1996 has not missed a single year.

In the exhibition, which can be visited until July 2, you can see mannequins with all the designs that the group has worn, including last year's, to honor the popular Celia Cruz. The inauguration was attended by the mayor of the capital, José Manuel Bermúdez; the Councillor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, and other members of the Corporation.
