Santa Cruz Carnival 2022 Opening Parade

On Friday, June 24 at 7:00 p.m., the Cabalgata Anunciadora (Carnival Opening Parade) will begin, which will run into the night time dances with various orchestras on the stages distributed throughout the streets of Santa Cruz.

The parade will leave from it's usual starting point on the Avenida de Bélgica, and will continue through the Plaza República Dominicana, Avenida de la Asunción, Calle Ramón y Cajal, Galcerán, Plaza Weyler, Méndez Núñez (Parque García Sanabria), Calle del Pilar, Villalba Hervás, Calle La Marina and Avenida Marítima.

The Afilarmónica Ni Fú Ni Fá, followed by the Carnival Queen, Ruth González Martín, will lead a parade in which the Junior and Senior sovereigns will also participate, along with their maids of honour, murga groups, comparsas, musical and choreographic groups, in addition to hundreds of spontaneous costumed people, decorated floats and cars in this first carnival event in the street.

As usual, the Autonomous Organization for Festivities and Recreational Activities (OAFAR) of the City Council will enable the area for people with reduced mobility at the confluence of Méndez Núñez and Robayna streets. Television Canaria will broadcast the Cavalcade, starting at 9:00 p.m.

Music on the stage of Plaza de la Candelaria, starts from 11:00 p.m. with La Mekánica by Tamarindos; at 1:00 a.m. with Nueva Línea; and at 3:00 with The Boys Machine. Renzo El Selector will play on the Francisco La Roche Avenue stage, starting at 11:00 p.m.; at 00:00 hours, Abel González; at 1:00 a.m., it will be the turn of Dj Wess; at 1:30 am with Fabrizio Salgado; at 2:30 p.m. Ubai Hernández; from 3:30 a.m. Fazi Brain; and will end at 4:00 a.m., Dabunker. And in the Plaza del Príncipe, from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., there will be a musical program by Cadena COPE.

This second night will end at five in the morning, with Daytime Carnival starting at 12:00 on Saturday, which will tie with the night, to end at six on Sunday morning.
