The Farmer's Market opens in Las Galletas

The Arona Farmer's Market has begun a new journey, sharing alternate Thursdays with outings to the bay of Los Cristianos and Las Galletas, in addition to Fridays and Saturdays at its facilities in Valle San Lorenzo.

The Arona Farmer's Market opened this Thursday in Las Galletas for the first time in its almost five-year history, thus sharing alternate Thursdays with Los Cristianos, on whose coastline it has been settling in recent years with the objective of revitalizing this town, promoting local producers and putting the tourism and primary sectors in contact.

These same reasons, and at the request of both the zero kilometre producers themselves and the Las Galletas Open Commercial Zone, have led the Economic Promotion area to expand market outlets to points where supply and demand for products from the primary sector are combined. quality.

The Farmer's Market now opens its doors on Fridays and Saturdays at the Valle San Lorenzo facilities, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., while on Thursdays it will alternate between Los Cristianos and Las Galletas from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If in the first of these last two locations the stalls are located in the bay area, the premiere in the second takes place on the Rambla Dionisio González.

The Arona Farmer's Market was born in 2017 with the aim of promoting the local product of the primary sector of the municipality. Since then it has expanded its activity and has been incorporating novelties, such as free transportation from various areas or open parking in the commercial heart of the Valley, which opens its doors from Monday to Saturday with 72 parking spaces. The market also has an average of half a thousand visitors every weekend, adding up to around 26,000 a year.

José Julián Mena: "Support each other to benefit Arona"

Mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, highlighted the importance "of growing local production, from kilometre zero, the closest and most sustainable, thus supporting the primary sector and the trade and restoration of the different localities of Arona, in this case in Las Galletas. Commerce, restaurants and local products are a good way to support each other so that the whole of Arona benefits”, he added.
