San Miguel de Abona Hillclimb 2022

San Miguel Hillclimb

More exciting rally action as the XXII Subida a San Miguel de Abona (22nd San Miguel de Abona Hillclimb), will be held on July 22 and 23. After the last edition was held in 2019, the Escudería Motor Abona returns again with engines ready, for this event. As the organizing committee of the Motor Abona team already commented, they are working non-stop, with great desire and enthusiasm.

The event has a long historical trajectory, the first three editions (seasons 1975, 76 and 77) were organized by the Sports Commission of the Royal Automobile Club of Tenerife. In the 1981 season, the Escudería Motor Abona came into being and organized the fourth climb on April 19, 1981. Again in oblivion until April 27, 1991, when the Subida San Miguel-La Escalona with a route of 5.1 km was organised. In 1994 the route was changed to San Miguel-Jama at a distance of 5.9 km, which in 1996 was replaced by El Roque-La Escalona in a 5.1 km version. In 2012 “El Frontón-Vilaflor” was used with 5.2 km, and since then it had ceased to be scheduled. Until, after nine years, the 2019 San Miguel de Abona Hillclimb became a reality. Then, of course, came the pandemic.

As is usual in these events, expect Friday to be reserved for all the admin and technical verifications, while the event proper takes place on Saturday, 23 July, we believe on the route known as El Roque-La Escalona, with a length of 5,100 km. On Saturday 23rd, there will, naturally, be road closures.
