Santa Cruz Carnival in Feb and a “nod” in June

CARNAVAL DE DÍA by iLoveTheWorld

Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, announced yesterday that, although next year the Carnival will be held again in February, the City Council does not rule out "making a nod" to the chicharrera party in June.

“In 2023, we will bring back Carnival as we know it, and it will be held in February, as always. Another thing entirely is that we could carry out some events in June, after the success that the celebration of the festival has had this summer, clarified the alderman. Bermúdez made these statements during the Economic Meetings event, held at the La Recova Art Gallery and organized by Tiempo de Canarias, during which the mayor and chief economist of Tressis, Daniel Lacalle, discussed Development and Investment in the capital Tenerife.

In 2023, the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will start on January 20, with the opening gala of the party, and will end on February 26, with Piñata Sunday. The mayor recalled that this year the chicharrera party was held in June, although there were only dances in the street for one weekend, because the coronavirus pandemic prevented the Carnival from taking place in February. "That decision was a success, because moving the party has meant an important economic injection for the city", he pointed out.
