The Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de La Laguna (La Laguna Town Hall) building, located next to the Plaza del Adelantado, was ordered to be built by Alonso Fernández de Lugo after the conquest of Tenerife in order to house the island council. Initially, several constructions were carried out and the current one, which dates from 1540, has undergone numerous modifications and reforms throughout history, particularly during the reign of Fernando VII.
The main fiestas in San Cristóbal de La Laguna include:- La Siervita: The Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena is opened on 15 February to view the incorrupt body of nun, Sor María de Jesus.
