Los Joroperos at Rhythm and Harmony 2023 RITMO Y ARMONÍA by iLoveTheworld |
The comparsa, Los Joroperos, won first prize this Saturday in the Rhythm and Harmony contest, held on Francisco La Roche and Marítima avenues, with the participation of nine formations. The second prize went to Bahía Bahitiare and the third went to Tropicana, while Cariocas achieved 4th or highly commended.
Thousands of people followed in the parade along the entire route, as well as in the stands installed in the vicinity of the Plaza de España. In addition to the comparsas, the 2023 Carnival Queen, her court of honour and six of the other candidates in the great pageant of the Santa Cruz festivities, also participated in the parade.

Mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, underlines "the enormous desire that people had to meet again on the street" and points out that "the data from the few incidents confirm our Carnival as the safest in the world" [while this could be a political platitude, my personal experience of the carnival is that this is true].
Throughout the weekend, the stages located in the Plaza del Príncipe and La Candelaria, as well as the one on Avenida Francisco La Roche, hosted a multitude of concerts in which, mainly, Canarian artists and orchestras performed, which enlivened the dances on Friday and Saturday night.
