October 12 is celebrated as the National Day or Fiesta Nacional de Espana in Spain. It is also called Hispanic Day or the Dia de la Hispanidad. The day is also celebrated to commemorate the arrival of Columbus in Americas. Since 2000, October 12 has also been Spain's Day of the Armed Forces, celebrated each year with a military parade in Madrid.
