There are three national public holidays this month: Tuesday, 6 December for the Día de la Constitución Española (Spanish Constitution); Thursday, 8 December for Inmaculada Concepción (Immaculate Conception) and Monday, 26 December, a day in lieu, as Navidad (Christmas Day) falls on Sunday.
December 21, 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Parlamento de Canarias (Parliament of the Canary Islands). On December 21, 1982, the the first plenary session of the Provisional Parliament was held, after a recently released Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands. It has been four decades that have transformed the social, political, economic and cultural life of the islands.
The holiday period kicks off proper with the Spanish Christmas Lottery, which is drawn on 22 December. Various streets of the capital will host the Lo Divino Tour, a musical offering by more than 30 folk groups from the municipality, which from 7:00 p.m. on December 23 will perform Christmas carols and melodies.
And that brings us to the end of the year, when, in Santa Cruz, the New Year's Eve party will once more be back in the Plaza de La Candelaria.
Arona Council will celebrate in style the farewell to 2022 and welcome 2023 with the 'Great New Year's Eve Party', which returns after a two-year hiatus and will be held on Saturday 31 Dec in the surroundings of the Cultural Centre in Los Cristianos.
