The celebration of the Piñata de Carnaval weekend started yesterday (24 Feb) with the Children's Carnival Parade, one of the most endearing events of the carnival program, which, starting at 6:00 p.m., toured the centre of the capital from the Numancia and Méndez Núñez streets, running to Villalba Hervás street.
A parade in which, as is tradition, hundreds of boys and girls from all the children's carnival groups participated, as well as the award-winning costumes, children's centres and the batucadas from the Virgen del Mar and Bethencourt y Molina schools, and all the little carnival-goers dressed in their best costumes who wanted to join in saying goodbye, in style, to carnival for another year.
The public gathered along the pavements enjoyed seeing Ione Díaz Serna, Children's Queen of Carnival, who paraded with her court of honour, made up Paola Bello Navarro, Nayara Plasencia Mesa, Carla López Alonso and Iraya Hernandez Perez. They were accompanied by the murguitas and other children's groups.
