January 1, being a Sunday and a non-working day already, there is no public holiday for New Year's Day 2023 in Tenerife. Neither is the next day off in lieu as there are still the required number of days in the year's public holiday calendar. The only public holiday, therefore, in January 2023, is on 6 January for Epiphany.
The Feria de Artesanía de Reyes (Three Kings Crafts Fair) takes place in Santa Cruz and La Laguna from 2 to 5 January for those last minute gift purchases.
From January 3 to 5, the “Dreamer Market” will take place in the Plaza de la Iglesia de la Concepción, Santa Cruz, with 49 tents with hours between 11:00 and 21:00.
On the Eve of Epiphany, January 5th, Los Reyes (The Three Kings) arrive from the east (or in helicopters), bringing gifts. Starting at 5:00 pm that evening, the reception of the Three Wise Men will this year return to the Heliodo Rodríguez Stadium, which will give way to the traditional parade that, from 7:00 pm, will follow its usual route through the streets of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. January 6th, Día de Reyes (Three Kings' Day) is the biggest day of the Christmas season.
The Fiestas in honour of San Amaro, Santa Lucía y San Sebastián take place annually on the Sunday after 15th January in Machado, El Rosario.
La Guancha celebrates Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza on 18 January.
The Festival of San Sebastián in La Caleta, Adeje is on 20 January. Garachico also celebrates the Fiesta de San Sebastián, as does Icod de los Vinos.
Los Realejos celebrates San Vicente on 22 January.
There are Fiestas of San Antonio Abad in Arona, Buenavista del Norte (4th Sunday), Chio, Gúímar, La Matanza de Acentejo, El Amparo (Icod de los Vinos), Los Silos (3rd Sunday), La Florida (La Orotava) and El Tanque. In La Florida, the celebrations include the Gran Puchero, which literally does feed five-thousand. Many of the San Antonio Abad celebrations are likely to include Romerías and craft fairs.
In Arona, the main celebrations for San Antonio Abad are on Sunday 15 January 2023 with the traditional romería and blessing of the animals following from the mass at 11 am. The day will begin, however, at 10:00 a.m. with the opening of the craft exhibition. As every year, Arona council makes a free transport service available to residents and tourists with two points of departure and arrival located on Avenida Juan Carlos I in Los Cristianos, in front of the Infanta Leonor Auditorium, and in Playa de las Américas on Avenida Noelia Afonso García, in front of the Central Zenter hotel. Departures at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00, with return at 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00.
The Fiestas of La Milagrosa, are celebrated in El Salto, Granadilla de Abona, at the end of January.
Later in the month or early February, depending on the weather, the annual Ruta de Almendro en Flor (Almond Flower Route) usually takes place.
And this year the biggest event, coming just a couple of weeks after the end of the Christmas celebrations, is the Inauguration of Carnival 2023 on Friday, 20 January, and the start of the carnival contests on Thursday, 26 January.
