The month begins with a public holiday on November 1 for Todos los Santos (All Saints), when it’s customary to visit the tombs of one’s departed.
An Air Show will take place over Las Teresitas beach on Sunday, November 5. This will be the first time that such an event takes place in the municipality of Santa Cruz and, especially, the surroundings of the capital's beach. This public event is organized by the Canary Islands Air Command and will feature the participation of the well-known Patrulla Águila (literally Eagle Patrol, Spain's equivalent to the Red Arows) and the Patrulla Acrobática de Paracaidismo del Ejército del Aire (Air Force Parachute Acrobatic Team). There will be the support of the Spanish Navy in the maritime area near the beach. In the planned program, the display of the Parachute Acrobatic Team will focus on the interior of the beach, where its members will land in an area conveniently delimited for this purpose.
Santiago del Teide Council has organised the second edition of the Barraquito Route 2023, an initiative that is part of the commemoration events of the 114 years since the eruption of the Chinyero volcano.
The Barraquito Route will take place from the 13th to the 19th of this month and will have the participation of a total of 13 participating restaurant establishments located in the towns of Santiago del Teide (urban area), Arguayo and Tamaimo. Through this initiative promoted by the Council, the participating establishments will offer, for a week, all kinds of creative proposals of what has been established for years as one of the most popular hot drinks containing coffee in the Archipelago and, above all, from Tenerife.
On November 29th, the eve of St. Andrew’s Day, the Fiestas of San Andres are celebrated in Icod de los Vinos, with an event unique to the Canary Islands, the Tablas de San Andrés – kinda kamikaze sledding down steep streets on boards. Meanwhile in Puerto de la Cruz, their celebrations are popularly known as the Fiestas of Pots or Chestnuts. Kids drag strings of tin cans and scrap metal around the streets to make as much noise as possible and the “Castañada” (chestnut feast) is held in the town’s main Plaza del Charco square.
